Our client, an elite global financial firm is looking for a proven distributed / web application architect to lead their greenfield, global next generation initiative.

Responsibilities:
– Efficiently design, build distributed server-side and web applications, employing latest front & back-end technologies used by the next generation trading system
– Be involved in hands-on development and ensure the key pieces of architecture are built correctly
– Be part of the front-office desk, with trading and sales users, alongside the firm’s expert core development teams and user-experience professionals
– Provide expertise in distributed application architecture that are both scalable and flexible to tackle complex technical needs
– Deliver fast, scalable, and extensible platforms.
– Foster good design principles and best practices
– Mentor and guide junior developers
– Effectively communicate with regional/global project managers, developers, and stakeholders

Requirements:
– Excellent programming skills in objected oriented (Java, C++)and/or functional languages; Passion for coding/development with in-depth knowledge in system design
– Strong design/architecture skills in API/framework, server component and database
– Excellent communication skills
– Degree in Computer Science or Engineering
– Self-initiative / enthusiasm

Preferred:
– Knowledge of financial markets especially quantitative trading knowledge would be beneficial
– Expertise in JVM and/or Scala
– Functional programming
