My client, a reputable tier one investment bank, is actively seeking a Lead Developer to revitalise one of their teams within Equity Derivatives IT.

You will be responsible for leading a team to develop applications for the Equities trading and sales desks. The successful candidate will need to have solid exposure in leading a team.This is a truly exciting front office facing role that involves working closely with business partners to ensure development efforts are focused in the right way at the right time and that they satisfy business needs for the long term. Moreover, you will be involved with the full delivery lifecycle, from strategy through to design, development, testing, deployment and support.

The role:
– This team uses a variety of technologies such as Python, Java and HTML 5.
– Work with Front Office while developing greenfield applications
– Taking part in a new strategy to automate Front Office processes and functions using technology solutions
– An agile and delivery focused team working with global and local counterparts leveraging best in class technologies to solve business problems
– Work closely with a number of teams including Trading, Sales, Quantitative Research, as well as other technology teams
– You will have the chance to propose and explore new solutions that can give the bank an edge against competition

Essential skills:
– Extensive experience with development, deployment and maintenance of large scale applications
– Basic knowledge of derivative products
– Must have strong knowledge of Java and interested in learning Python
– Knowledge of one of the following: Sybase, SQL Server, Oracle
– Experience of full project lifecycle, breaking requirements down into technical deliverables and effort estimation
– Experience working in a global team
– Excellent math/technical problem solving skills
– Good communication skills especially when describing problems and explaining solutions

Advantageous:
– Knowledge of Equity
– Unix or Linux knowledge
– Working knowledge of continuous integration and test driven development
– Experience with project management
– Familiarity with Excel, VBA
– Python experience a plus
